Accidents happen. People get hurt, sick, or lost. The temperature drops, the wind picks up, and it starts to rain. Would you know what to do? By learning a few basic skills, you can make the difference between a good outcome and a bad one - and maybe even save a life. This certification is backed by SOLO, the longest running school of wilderness medicine in the world!
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) are hands-on trainings designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts, and individuals working in remote locations. WFA is a 16-hour (two day) course that focuses on the basic skills of: response and assessment, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, environmental and medical emergencies, survival skills, and more.
Upon completion, you will receive a SOLO WFA certification (valid for two years) or, if you are recertifying your SOLO WFR, that remains valid for another 3 years.
This two-part class runs 8:00 am to 5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday. You must have a current CPR/AED for WFA to be valid.
Learning takes place in an outdoor sheltered setting. Come prepared for any weather. Camping available on-site for free.
