About the Event
Accidents happen. People get hurt, sick, or lost. The temperature drops, the wind picks up, and it starts to rain. Would you know what to do? By learning a few basic skills, you can make the difference between a good outcome and a bad one - and maybe even save a life.
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) are hands-on trainings designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts, and individuals working in remote locations. WFA is a 16-hour (two day) course that focuses on the basic skills of: response and assessment, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, environmental and medical emergencies, survival skills, and more.
Upon completion, you will receive a SOLO WFA certification (valid for two years) or, if you are recertifying your SOLO WFR, that remains valid for another 3 years.
This two-part class runs 8:00 am to 5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday. You must have a current CPR/AED for WFA to be valid. CPR/AED can be added for a small fee of $35. Or, if you would like the American Heart Association BLS certification which covers adult, child, and infant CPR and AED, this can be arranged as well for $55.
Learning takes place in an outdoor sheltered setting. Come prepared for any weather. Camping available on site for free.

This is the industry standard for wilderness medicine.

If you are currently certified as a Wilderness First Responder through SOLO, you can recertify through this WFA class and renew your WFR status. This will keep your WFR current for 3 more years.

This is an adult CPR/AED course through SOLO. This course follows the American Heart Association standards but is not an AHA course. If you want/need a full BLS course which includes child, infant, and adult, please select the AHA BLS option.

This blended BLS course covers Adult, Child, and infant CPR and AED. This is the AHA Heartcode BLS blended course. You will take the online portion prior to class and then do your skills session during the WFA course to complete the certificate requirements.
