About the Event

This trek leads you to the heart of the Khumbu region where you can feel the Sherpa hospitality and the Tibetan Buddhists culture. Everest Base Camp trek (EBC) became a popular trip after Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary climbed Mt. Everest with a trek through this trail in 1953. It has since become a tourist hub for trekkers and high Himalayan climbers alike. If you love nature and want to be in the picturesque Himalayan zone, be ready to face the adventure of Everest Base Camp trekking.

EBC trek embarks from the tiny airstrip of Lukla after a 35 min flight from Kathmandu. Incredible Himalayan panoramas can be seen during the flight. The land features of this trek are beautiful landscapes that range from dense rhododendron forests to alpine birch and juniper. As we climb higher, you'll see incredible glaciers and wild rivers stemming from the Kumbhu ice falls. Namche bazaar, Khumjung, and Tengbuche are some of the spiritual places where you can view the ancient Everest monasteries, Chhortens, and Sherpa rituals. You will be surrounded by beautiful white peaks of several of the worlds tallest mountains including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Island Peak, Thamserku and more.

We will stop at Namche and Dingbuche to rest and spend full days acclimating to help our bodies adjust. From Lobuche, the trek goes up to EBC and trek down to Gorakshep. The very next day, we hike to Kalapatthar (18,400') to view the golden sunrise over Mt. Everest. The trek retraces all the way down to Lukla before we fly back to Kathmandu.

Difficulty: Challenging primarily due to altitude. We are not going up to the top of Everest (29,000'). This trip takes you to Everest Base Camp (17,600') and Kala Patthar (18,400'). Our starting elevation will be in Lukla at 9,400'. We have a relaxed pace and plenty of time including 2 acclimatization days to help avoid altitude illness.

Our trip cost includes emergency rescue insurance which is required for this trip.  It is extremely rare for anyone to require evacuation but we have the ability if needed. In addition to emergency communication, our team is made up of experienced guides who are trained wilderness first responders and EMT's.

Gear needs for this trip are no different than typical hiking gear back home! Warm base layers, good footwear, and a few other things are all you need. A full gear list will be provided. Some items including a warm puff jacket or sleeping bag for this trip can be provided if needed at no extra cost. Our professional porters will carry the bulk of your gear so all that is left for you are snacks, water, and rain gear.

Does this include food? Yes. All meals are included during the trek.

What does lodging like? We are sleeping in a series of "Tea Houses" along the route. You will have beds in a shared room with roommates (from the group). Sorry, a solo room will not be available on the trail. Everyone can pair up with a roomate of your choosing.
